OCA Global is actively involved in the deployment of the principles of the Circular and Blue Economy in developing countries and in the EU; and has launched, together with Factor and Inèdit, a technical assistance project in 11 countries in the Caribbean region.
This project is financed by the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) and began implementation in January 2018, and is now in the final stages. The target regions were Barbados, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago; and the island territories of Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
Under this project, our Consortium defined the main elements of the Circular and Blue Economy in the particular context of the territories of the Caribbean region, developing the necessary tools for public and private sector stakeholders to assess progress, prescribe solutions to issues and better exploit potential growth opportunities, while strengthening resilience to climate change.
The goal was to create sustainable development growth by addressing priority economic sectors, including the development of basic infrastructure, the creation of sustainable ocean industries, and the promotion of key sectors for the blue and circular economy. Our work also designed new conceptual proposals for financing sustainable economy and climate adaptation initiatives at the regional level.
