OCA Global performs quality control with its mobile laboratory at Pizarro photovoltaic plant
16.06.2022
OCA Global CTA has been contracted as a quality control technical advisor to carry out photovoltaic power, electroluminescence and visual testing services in the construction process of the Pizarro photovoltaic plant, with a production capacity of 590 MWp. The services were contracted by an EPC client based in Seville with experience of 1.4GW in the construction of PV plants in Spain, Latin America, UK and Middle East.
The tests were carried out in the post-shipment phase (before installation) with the PV Mobile Lab, which has a tunnel-type solar simulator with PASAN flash technology and a line-type electroluminescence machine with MBJ technology.
The quality control of the photovoltaic modules, before installation, is essential in order to avoid problems in their operation that may have been caused by defects in their manufacture or transport. Thanks to the tests performed, it is possible to categorize the types of defects and validate the conformity of the batches prior to installation.
The Pizarro photovoltaic plant is located in the municipality of Torrecillas de la Tiesa (Cáceres), and with its 590 MWp of installed capacity it will provide clean energy to 334,400 homes per year, avoiding the emission of more than 150,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year and becoming the largest photovoltaic plant in Europe.
